I used the WK jig with a pre-2011 Bosch colt router with incredible results. I say pre-2011 for a reason. And you can read a lot about this over at precisebits.com. The new colts are not reliable (runout). But the dewalt 611 is now becoming the new mid-end standard. If you want to go big, look at Bishop-Cochran, I own one of those with a pre-2011 Colt, plus a precise bits precision collet. Absolutely amazing. But if u are just starting out, WK is the way to go, but I would outfit it with a dewalt 611 (or if u can find one, a pre-2011 colt). Not a new Colt. And a collet from precise bits. Another issue with new colts is the plastic bearing housing. It can melt. Call Ron at precise bits and hè will talk ur ear off about this.

If u can find a pre-2011 Colt, buy it. And use it. An alternative to the precise bits collet is from Elaire Corp. Less expensive.

Mike

Btw, say no to the dremel. They just have too much bearing play. You will recognize this in your rosettes as gaps and rounded edges where all should be crisp and sharp.

I use a 70k air pencil grinder from john hall. and a new stew-mac rosette cutter base , my machinest converted the base centered it for perfect concentric circles , which can cut a small soprano uke rosettes to a large bass gittarron. the base itself bliss is clear plastic for easy viewing , and can be converted quickly to just use the grinder to cut inlays.I have other dremels/ryobi trimmers with a routing base similiar to the one pictured in the bogdanovich book.
